UAE Ministry of Sports Showcases Bureaucracy Reduction Achievements

The Ministry of Sports highlighted its efforts in developing government services and streamlining bureaucracy. During the third regular meeting of the second phase of the 'Bureaucracy Reduction' program, hosted by United Arab Emirates University, the government's efforts within the program were discussed, focusing on simplifying procedures and improving the user experience. This enhances the institutional efficiency of the sports sector and supports national efforts to provide the best government services in the world. The meeting was attended by Minister of Sports Dr. Ahmed Al-Falasi, Undersecretary of Sports Ghanem Al-Hajri, Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al-Maktom, Assistant Undersecretary for Sports Development and Competitiveness, representatives of the UAE Government Excellence Program, ministry work teams, and representatives of related federal and sports bodies. Dr. Ahmed Al-Falasi affirmed that since its inception, the ministry has adopted a work philosophy inspired by the wise leadership, making efficiency, speed, and innovation fundamental pillars of government work. He noted that bureaucracy reduction was not merely an administrative project but has transformed into a culture of thinking and achievement within the ministry. He stated: 'We have learned from our wise leadership that development does not begin with regulations, but with actual practice and work, and that bureaucracy is not a destiny but a challenge that can be overcome when there is the will and collective work. From this principle, we have strived to work within a culture that places the needs and aspirations of users at the heart of our development processes.' He added: 'During the first year of the ministry's life, we proformed a committee for bureaucracy reduction, and seven specialized work teams were launched to re-engineer services and simplify policies and procedures. These efforts have resulted in tangible and measurable achievements in the speed and efficiency of government services. This shift was not only at the level of procedures and services but also in the institutional mindset and performance culture, where the initiative to propose proactive solutions has become a work culture that we are proud of adopting in the Ministry of Sports.' During the meeting, the Ministry of Sports team presented initiatives launched by the ministry to pave the way for the Emirati athlete on their journey to achieving titles and reaching the podium. Among the key initiatives is the Talents Committee platform, which serves as a unified digital database for discovering and nurturing talents across various sports, connecting athletes with federations and clubs. It allows for performance evaluation using the latest AI-based technologies and specialized tests, which has contributed to enhancing the efficiency of talent selection and nurturing. The Ministry of Sports clarified that it has successfully achieved a 100% reduction in the time taken to obtain the three sports secondment services (issuance, data update, cancellation), in addition to canceling all documents, reducing the number of steps by 33%, and decreasing the number of visits to the ministry's website by 50%. This also led to the removal of all unnecessary fields, resulting in an increase in user satisfaction with services to 91% during the year 2025.
